ReeToxA and the story behind Avocet Court, a window into his artistic identity
Melbourne, 2025 — ReeToxA is a Melbourne-born project that encapsulates 30 years of songwriting and a lifetime of transformative experiences. After decades of writing music, navigating complex personal moments, and postponing his creative dreams, the artist finally decided to open the doors to his musical universe: a rock sound that blends the spirit of the 90s with a modern and deeply emotional edge. His music is a bridge between past and present, driven by an artistic vision that, rather than chasing trends, responds to an inner need: “The art and songs seem to float in my head, and I just had to do something with them.” ReeToxA’s love for music began in 1995 when he first started writing songs. Although life took him down difficult paths and forced him to put his musical goals on hold, a family loss confronted him with the phrase that gave meaning to everything: “Life is too short.” Since then, his purpose has been clear: to share his music as a vehicle for peace, love, and awareness, especially regarding mental health and those living in disadvantaged circumstances.
Their musical identity draws from: 90s alternative rock, elements of modern music, and an honest emotional charge that sets them apart within the indie scene. The result is a sound that feels familiar yet new; nostalgic yet current. About the song: Avocet Court. A story written in adolescence that still resonates. Avocet Court is one of the most intimate and significant tracks on their album Pines Salad. Originally written in 1995, it captures the feelings of a 15-year-old caught between: an unbearable school life, a home marked by conflict and his parents' divorce, and a deep desire to start his own life, even without the means or the age to do so. It's a raw and vulnerable tale of growing up amidst chaos, of wanting to escape, and of the urgency to find one's own path. The song, like the rest of the album, was produced by Simon Moro at his studio, The Avenue, achieving a precise mix that keeps the emotional essence of their compositions intact. “I have an open mind and I hope you all thought it was great,” says ReeToxA about how he hopes the public will receive Avocet Court.
Rather than directing the experience, he prefers that each listener find their own emotional interpretation within the song. Today, the project continues to evolve with a profoundly human sensibility. ReeToxA builds his musical path from honesty, the experiences that shaped him, and the conviction to share messages that can generate reflection and empathy. Avocet Court powerfully encapsulates ReeToxA's identity: it clearly reflects who he is, where he comes from, and why his music deserves to be heard.
