Reetoxa - HMAS Cerberus

What strikes me most is how such a simple image—seeing “all four seasons in a single day” in a Melbourne brewery—becomes such an emotional trigger. That contrast between the constant movement of naval life and the reflective stillness of an everyday moment speaks volumes. It’s as if, for the first time in a long time, the protagonist can stop to look back and ask himself where all that he still carries comes from.

Musically, Reetoxa moves between the spirit of alternative rock and 90s Australian grunge, but with a modern sensibility that prevents it from sounding nostalgic or stuck in the past. There’s a brutal honesty in the lyrics, a direct poetry that doesn’t romanticize the pain, but doesn’t hide it either. And that, for me, is what makes this song stand out: it doesn’t try to be comfortable, it tries to be real.

Even with all that emotional weight, “HMAS Cerberus” has something liberating about it. It’s profound, yes, but also danceable. As if the body finds a way to move while the mind processes what it hears. That duality makes it even more powerful.

My recommendation: listen to it carefully, without distractions, and let it resonate within you. It's one of those songs that you don't just hear, you feel… and that reminds you why music remains one of the most honest ways to tell the story of life.
